Areas of Study
The emphasis of the Interior Design program of the New York School of Interior Design is on creativity, effective verbal and graphic communication skills, technical proficiency, and sustainability. With its focus on the development of critical thinking, the program is structured to produce graduates who are culturally, socially, and historically aware, and who have the knowledge and skills to create safe and pleasing interior environments.
In combination with the required professional experience, the curriculum satisfies the educational requirements for membership in national and local interior design associations and along with work experience, allows graduates to sit for the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) exam for interior design certification.- The program can be completed on a full-time or part-time basis
- The program is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA)
- The curriculum covers both residential and contract design (i.e., offices, hotels, restaurants)

General requirements
- Application.
- You must submit a non-refundable application fee of $60 for domestic students or $100 for international students.
- Applicants must submit a personal, typed statement, roughly one page in length, describing their reasons for applying to NYSID and their educational and professional goals.
- All applicants must submit two letters of recommendation.
- Applicants who have graduated from a U.S. high school within the past five years must submit results from either the SAT test or the ACT test.
