Interior design has evolved over the past century, and the New York School of Interior Design—which was founded by architect Sherrill Whiton 100 years ago—has changed along with it. In 1915, during a slowdown in the building industry, Whiton conceived the idea of a Home Study Course in the Decorative Arts.

The Library at the New York School of Interior Design is one of the only educational collections devoted to the practice and profession of Interior Design in the United States. A full-time librarian has been on staff at NYSID since 1964, and the library sits in its third space during that time. Both library services and collections have grown significantly over the years.

This 18-story residence, with one floor devoted exclusively to the New York School of Interior Design, features high-quality amenities, state-of-the-art technology, and designer interiors. NYSID is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). In addition, the BFA and the MFA-1 program are accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA), which is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and is the sole accrediting agency for postsecondary interior design programs.
