Overview

The Spanish Program at Fairmont State University integrates this University-wide objective in its program in a variety of ways. The Spanish Program seeks to foster a holistic understanding of literature, communication, history and culture of the Spanish-speaking world that is pertinent and useful in our globalized world. In addition, it hopes to contribute to the general student body’s knowledge of history and the world.

Spanish courses at Fairmont State are designed to develop students’ skills in:

If students study abroad, they can turn their travel to Spanish-speaking countries into class credit. Juniors are especially encouraged to study Spanish outside of the United States.

The Spanish program offers a four-year course of study leading to a Bachelor of Arts degree in either Spanish or Spanish Education. Students can also select Spanish as a minor.

General Requirements

  • Applicant must have completed a satisfactory program of secondary school studies equivalent to an American high school. 
  • An officially certified English translation of high school transcripts or college transcripts, if applicable, must accompany applications. 
  • In cases where high school graduation is expected after the application deadline for admission, acceptance at Fairmont State would be given to the prospective student with the understanding that the student successfully complete the necessary academic requirements and submit proof of graduation. Photo copies will not be accepted.
