Overview

Science Education majors at Fairmont State University should also expect hands-on learning opportunities early in their Fairmont State careers. Our instructors oversee a curriculum that encourages:

  • Participation in the Science After School Program with middle school students
  • Attendance at workshops hosted by the NASA IV&V Facility Educator Research Center
  • Radio telescope research at the Green Bank Observatory in Green Bank, WV

The Science Education program includes five specializations of study.  They are:

Graduates with a degree in Science Education can immediately become instructors of Biology (9-Adult), Chemistry (9-Adult), Physics (9-Adult) and General Science (5-Adult).

General Requirements

  • Applicant must have completed a satisfactory program of secondary school studies equivalent to an American high school. 
  • An officially certified English translation of high school transcripts or college transcripts, if applicable, must accompany applications. 
  • In cases where high school graduation is expected after the application deadline for admission, acceptance at Fairmont State would be given to the prospective student with the understanding that the student successfully complete the necessary academic requirements and submit proof of graduation. Photo copies will not be accepted.
