Overview

At Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing from University of Tennessee Knoxville initial licensure may be obtained through our 5 year program. Students complete their undergraduate coursework in 4 years and earn a Bachelor’s degree in Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing from University of Tennessee Knoxville. Upon completion of a 5th year professional internship, students have earned 24 credits toward a Master’s degree in Teacher Education.

They will obtain dual licensure in teaching D/HH students Pre-K through 12th grade, and teaching elementary K-5 grade or a secondary content area 7-12 grade. Because our program is Council on Education of the Deaf (CED) accredited, students also qualify for CED national certification.
