Overview
In the Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies at Mercy University, students will receive a solid grounding in communication theory and will get expensive opportunities to practice and polish their communication skills in real-world settings.
Students will be permitted up to three internships - letting them test the career waters at television studios, advertising agencies, non-profit corporations, and many other businesses in the New York area. These hands-on opportunities will give students exceptional employment prospects after graduation.
By the end of this program, students should be able to:
- Articulate various viewpoints using media of their choosing
- Apply communication history, theory, and principles to communication problem-solving
- Evaluate and incorporate reliable information in the analysis of communication problems and issues
- Be aware of and sensitive to the impact of diverse cultures in discussing, analyzing, and developing communication strategies
- Present an analysis of how communication law and ethical principles apply to their profession

General requirements
- Students must submit a high school transcript for their application to be reviewed. We will accept either an unofficial or official transcript. Students are able to upload these transcripts through our student portal.
- An official final high school transcript (provided by the high school to Mercy University), which includes all secondary school grades, class rank and date of graduate must be submitted prior to enrollment.
- Students whose transcripts are unavailable should consult with an admissions counselor. Or, the applicant can provide a High School Equivalency Diploma, if applicable, with corresponding score sheet.
