Stylists are the vital link between concept, design, presentation, and finished product. This program prepares you for a variety of opportunities, including how to launch a small business, in a wide range of fields.

This Fabric Styling degree from Fashion Institute of Technology SUNY provides a strong foundation in research, concept development, art direction, styling, and trend forecasting.

Targeting specific markets, you’ll learn fundamental design concepts and gain project management skills to create a variety of styling and forecasting projects based on references ranging from historical and cultural trends to the current socio-economic climate.

In addition to the core Fabric Styling curriculum, the program emphasizes interdisciplinary learning with courses in art history, fashion history, design, photography, business development, and marketing. A required internship will give you the experience necessary to launch a successful career upon graduation.

Careers

Students have interned at Banana Republic, Vogue, Ralph Lauren Home, Marc Jacobs, Elle, and Donna Karan. Graduates work as trend forecasters, product development managers, style editors, wardrobe managers, and display and photo stylists. Industries include publishing, theater, television, product development, and computer-related fields. Some graduates go on to master’s degree programs in fields such as visual culture and costume studies.
