Overview

The B.F.A. in Art program at Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art consists of a series of prerequisite courses taken during the first year. This introductory year is designed as a basis for the educational program of the School of Art and is intended to prepare students for studies in all of the disciplines offered within the curriculum. 

Through exposure to a variety of two- and three-dimensional projects, students are given a general introduction to the specifics of visual and spatial phenomena, and to concepts, principles and techniques of the visual arts.

English Language Requirements

    The TOEFL®PBT is administered in a paper format and measures your ability to use and understand English in a classroom setting at the college or university level. It accurately measures how well you can listen, read and write in English while performing academic tasks.

  • All high school and college transcripts must be translated into English, notarized and sent to The Cooper Union.
  • Students planning to attend Cooper Union as an F-1 international student will need a Form I-20. 
  • International students are assessed a fee of $1,005 per semester.
