Overview

The core curriculum of the Finance program from Jacksonville University is designed to provide students with the knowledge necessary to prepare for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA) exams.

In the spirit of fostering meaningful technical competencies, our program connects theory and practice. The Dolphin Student Investment Fund (DSIF) is a student-managed portfolio in excess of $900,000 as of August 2021.

The program provides students with valuable hands-on investment experience. Student analysts manage the assets directly, often making decisions about asset sales and purchases that total $100,000 or more. Members of the DSIF team have competed in the CFA Challenge and have gained national and international acclaim.

Potential Career Paths

Students majoring in finance will be prepared for a variety of career opportunities in corporate financial management, investment analysis, and international finance. Graduates have taken jobs with Merrill Lynch, Black Knight, Macquarie Group, Intrepid Capital Management, Green Cove Maritime, Southtrust Bank, United Parcel Service (UPS), Banco Di Caribe, and Hospice of North Florida.

Students interested in furthering their education with a master’s degree, have the option to participate in our Grad2Grad program, which offers them the opportunity to receive both their undergraduate and graduate degree in either a 5-year (4 + 1) or 4-year (3 + 1) format.
