About Criminal Justice at Ashland University

With the need for law enforcement and private security and detectives increasing six percent and the need for mediators increasing ten percent by 2026, now is the perfect time to start your criminal justice career. Previous Criminal Justice graduates now serve the public well in a variety of settings, including the police force, state highway patrol, home security, and more.
What To Expect In The Criminal Justice Program
- In the past 3 years, over 60% of CJ graduates from Ashland University had completed at least one elective field experience with 45% of those participating in more than one.
- Criminal Justice graduates now serve the public good in a variety of capacities, including: Chief of Police, US Marshal, Ohio State Highway Patrol Officer, working in the Cleveland Police Department Crime Lab, Homeland Security Officer, both adult and juvenile probation, and Intelligence Analyst at the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).
- Students can graduate with a BS in Criminal Justice in 3 years while still including a minor of their choice. Students also have the opportunity to graduate with two majors or multiple minors all within 4 years.

General requirements
A completed International Student Application;
A $50 non-refundable application fee;
A photocopy of applicant’s passport pages.
Proof of financial support showing the sponsor's ability to support the student with funds equal to or greater than the estimated expenses per year;
Academic records from all secondary schools, colleges, or universities attended;
Results of any state or government comprehensive exams, such as the Baccalaureate or the G.C.E., if applicable;
An official TOEFL score of 65 (iBT) or above (84 or above for Nursing program), or an IELTS score of 6.0 or above (7.0 or above for Nursing program), or PTEA score of 50 or above (59 or above for Nursing Program), or DET 95 (115 or above for Nursing Program);
If the TOEFL, IELTS, PTEA, or DET score is below the required level, or these tests have not been taken, the student may enter the Center for English Studies (ACCESS).
