Spartanburg, SC, United States
A major in Intercultural Studies offers students with a special interest in non-Western countries a chance to design their own major based on a course of study that focuses on a specific region or country. All Intercultural Studies majors are encouraged to study abroad in the area of the world that they are studying.

Overview

The Intercultural Studies major is primarily for students whose interests lie in the study of countries and cultures outside of North America and Europe and whose academic goals can’t be conveniently achieved with traditional majors.

The student will work with the Coordinator of Intercultural Studies to design a unique curriculum that incorporates coursework drawn from the departments of economics, English, fine arts, foreign languages, government, history, humanities, religion, and sociology. The curriculum must be designed and approved before the start of the student’s junior year.

Students will also complete a capstone project, normally in the spring of the senior year, that integrates work from various departments.
