A successful student of the Dance program from Southern Utah University will:

Have a working knowledge of human movement and anatomy and how it relates to the teaching of dance technique.
Have a working knowledge of how principles of composition are used as tools for choreography.
Examine perspectives of critical analysis of the artistic process and aesthetics.
Have a working knowledge of the historical development of dance as an art form.
Understand basic production processes (i.e. performing, dancing, choreographing, and sound editing).
Demonstrate advanced proficiency in modern dance or ballet and an intermediate level in modern dance or ballet.

The Dance Program is committed to students’ health and wellbeing, as well as their artistic and personal development. Therefore, incoming students will complete a placement audition to adequately begin their progression of dance techniques.
Interested High School Seniors or Transfer students will complete the following form to audition for placement, as well as scholarship, in any of the following ways:
Face-to-face in Salt Lake City, UT on Saturday, February 5th,
Location: Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center
Face-to-face at SUU’s Day of Dance on Saturday, February 12th,
Location: Southern Utah University
Video Submission, to be submitted by 11:59pm on Saturday, February 19th
