Bachelor of Music (Technology Emphasis): prepares students for a wide range of employment opportunities in the music technology and media industries, as well as positions in academic research.

Overview

The Bachelor of Music in Performance-Music Technology major provides each student a curriculum which develops a fundamental skill set in music with specific training in Music Technology. Coursework in music begins during the first semester of the freshman year in order that the comprehensive curriculum aligns with the general education requirements during the 4 year course of study. Majors should plan their course selections carefully with a departmental advisor. A copy of this plan must be submitted to the Office of STARS thirty (30) days before graduation clearance is approved in the Dean’s Office.

General Requirements

  • Application: A completed application
  • Transcripts: Prospective students should request that their high school send a transcript.  A six or seven semester transcript can be submitted for early review and a final official transcript submitted upon graduation which lists all high school course work, the date of graduation, grade point average, and class rank.
  • Test Scores:  Request that an official ACT or SAT score(s) is sent to Jackson State University.
  • Immunization Record: All students born after December 31, 1956 must submit proof of immunization compliance for measles, mumps, and rubella.
