How did American culture – the iconic melting pot – come to be? What ancestral influences were drawn upon to create this unique land? These are just some of the questions tackled by Archaeology graduates at Stephen F. Austin State University, and they’re as relevant today as ever.

Archaeology is the study of human nature and society as well as the human past. By studying these themes at SFA, you’ll be able to successfully relate to a world in which cultural interaction and diversity have expanded dramatically. We want to prepare you for a career and for life in this diverse world by promoting understanding and compassion across cultures and eras.

  • Freshman applicants who do not meet automatic admission based on high school rank will be reviewed through a holistic file review process, which considers all information submitted as part of the application.
  • Submission of tests scores will not create any unfair advantage or disadvantage for those students who provide them. We still want to encourage students to take an upcoming ACT/SAT test score or submit an existing test score as the test scores may continue to be required and utilized for scholarship review.
