Program Description

The skills you’ll develop in verbal and written communication by taking the Communication degree at Auburn University at Montgomery will also equip you for a variety of careers outside of the media such as those in government and non-profit agencies.

Points of Pride

Journalism students can intern at the WSFA, Montgomery Advertiser, WAKA, RSVP Montgomery magazine, and WCOV.
Public Relations students can intern in local organizations such as the Southern Poverty Law Center, Raycom Media, and Baptist Hospital, among others.

General requirements

A completed AUM online application; no application fee.
Your official high school transcript (which should be mailed or e-mailed directly to AUM from your high school) and official English translation if your transcript is not in English.
Proof of English proficiency (unless you are exempt). You can take the TOEFL IBT (minimum 61 points), the IELTS (minimum 5.5 points), PTE (minimum 44), or the TOEFL PBT (minimum 500 points). More information about English proficiency test requirements.
Proof of sufficient financial resources (Bank statement and/or letter from your sponsor in English). The bank statement should show at least $28,625 available.
