An Economics program from the University of Central Oklahoma teaches students how the real world works; consumers, firms, markets, corporations and legislatures. The UCO economics program develops the quantitative and analytical skills of our students through rigorous coursework, preparing students for careers in business, government and more.  

About

Curriculum

  • Economics majors will take intermediate microeconomics, intermediate macroeconomics, quantitative business forecasting and econometric methods, in addition to the business core courses.
  • Students have the opportunity to customize their major with elective courses such as, economics of social issues, statistics for health care, game theory, sports economics, and economic growth and development.
  • A degree in economics can serve as good preparation for graduate programs in economics, law, public administration, international affairs, environmental science, management science or business.

Academic Requirements

Option 1: Admission Based on Grades From High School 

This option is for students who have already graduated, or will soon graduate, from an accredited high school. Student must show a minimum of 2.70 GPA. IMPORTANT NOTE: Students who do not meet the SAT/ACT test requirement will be required to take the Computerized Placement Test (CPT) prior to enrollment into classes.  

Option 2: Admission Based on SAT or ACT Results 

This option is best for students who want admission before completing high school or do not meet the admissions requirements. To be considered for admission, you must obtain SAT: 1030 or higher combined critical reading and mathematics score ACT: 20 or higher composite score
