Overview

Global Public Health (GPH) students at Bard College are required to take a total of six courses, three at the 300-level or above. To moderate into the concentration, students must have taken two courses that fulfill GPH requirements.

Do you want to help shape health policy in your community or work to improve the health of people in developing countries around the world? Are you interested in becoming a disease detective, health promotion specialist, or medical anthropologist?
Normally, moderation into GPH happens alongside the student’s moderation into their primary program. In addition to the course requirements, students must write a one-page plan of study that describes their interest in GPH and details plans for future coursework, study abroad and/or away, and the Senior Project.
Any student interested in moderating into GPH should contact Program Director Helen Epstein to discuss their plans.

Apply using the Common Application.
High School transcript (Include mid-year senior grades if available at the time you apply.)
School Report (Form is generally completed by a high school counselor and includes a school profile.)
Teacher recommendations (Two are required: We prefer that one recommendation come from an English or humanities instructor and one from a math or science instructor.) In addition to the two letters of recommendation from teachers, a third letter of recommendation is required. This recommendation must come from a higher education counselor for students who have access to a college counseling office.
TOEFL exam or IELTS exam or Duolingo English Test are acceptable English proficiency tests. All international applicants for whom English is not their primary language must submit one of the accepted English proficiency tests.
