About

At Interior Design from Kean University, you will create designs that adhere to code and regulatory requirements and conform to the principles of environmental sustainability. The interior design process includes research, analysis, and integration of knowledge to reflect a client’s taste and sensibility while fulfilling project goals.

Overview

Interior Design from Kean University concludes with capstone courses in which students set goals and create professional portfolios enabling them to competently and confidently enter the job market.

What You Learn

You gain creative, technical and business skills to design interior environments for a variety of clients in a broad spectrum of settings

  • Explore the principles of interior design and theories of human behavior
  • Research and analyze a client's goals and create documents, drawings, diagrams and other materials to meet client requirement
  • Formulate space plans using two and three dimensional design concept studies
  • Integrate all elements of design, including safety, functionality and aesthetics
  • Incorporate all public health and welfare requirements in design, including code, accessibility, environmental and sustainability guidelines
  • Choose colors, materials and finishes for the design concept that reflect socio-psychological, functional, maintenance, lifecycle performance, environmental and safety requirements

  • Complete a Kean University Online Application.
  • You will have an opportunity to pay the application fee of $75.00 directly through the online application. Once you've completed the application, submit both the application and the application fee.
  • An official high school transcript evaluation. Applicants must submit a course-by-course evaluation (with GPA) of their official high school (Secondary School) transcript or mark sheet.
  • Regardless of U.S. residency status, an English proficiency examination is required of all students whose secondary schooling has been outside the U.S. in a country where English is not the principal language.
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation, in English. Letters may be from teachers, counselors, employers, coaches, etc.
  • Personal essay (1-2 pages), in English, expressing your educational and professional career goals.
