Overview

Since Frostburg State University’s Law is grounded in a strong liberal arts education and experiential learning, you’ll gain the all-important communication and critical thinking skills sought by law schools, plus the experience to prove your abilities. The Political Science department and Law and Society program offer a wide variety of electives so you can explore your law interests and find your niche in time to start your graduate education off right.

Career

Graduates of law programs can begin building their careers as paralegals, lawyers, mediators and more and can focus on a wide range of law fields, including criminal, family, corporate and elder laws. Prospective paralegals have a good chance of employment, as law firms are increasingly hiring paralegals and often do not require applicants to have advanced degrees or experience. 

Lawyers are typically required to complete a juris doctor degree program at an American Bar Association-approved school and are experiencing less job growth but higher wages than paralegals. To become a judge, applicants must have a law degree and years of experience and be elected or nominated.
