Overview
Chemistry is often referred to as the central science — it is the nature of matter. It is the crux of explaining the real world and extends beyond the classic areas of the field into exciting interdisciplinary areas such as computational chemistry, biotechnology, biogeochemistry, and materials science. Chemists study substances at the atomic and molecular levels and how substances interact.
At Montana Technological University, several areas of specialization are available at the undergraduate level. Each area is designed to enhance knowledge in the special area while maintaining a strong chemical orientation. Areas of specialization include Biochemistry, Environmental Chemistry, and a Professional track.
Our students are involved in both fundamental and applied research, and engage in a combination of studies that prepare them for careers and research across the spectrum of chemistry disciplines.
