Overview

Starting in 2007, the Homeland Security program offered at Eastern Kentucky University is one of the first in the nation and when it expanded its offerings by instituting a multi-disciplinary undergraduate HLS Program. The EKU program differentiates itself from other programs by offering a stand-alone Bachelor of Science degree with specialization opportunities in the disciplines of disaster management, security operations/management and intelligence studies.

Eastern Kentucky University has been a national leader in security management and disaster response for over five decades. Building on this tradition, the Homeland Security Program has quickly become one of the leading programs in the nation instructing students on the safeguarding of life and property through the protection of critical infrastructure; preparing for and responding to natural and man-made disasters; providing counterterrorism and law enforcement intelligence support; and employing the latest security technologies.

The EKU Homeland Security Program provides comprehensive educational opportunities focusing on the following essential components: Disaster Management, Infrastructure Protection and Resilience, Intelligence Sharing and Analysis, and Security Operations and Management.

A Homeland Security degree provides diverse opportunities to graduates as it can be defined as a multidisciplinary program resulting in a plethora of career opportunities.

With 36 Free elective hours built into the EKU Homeland Security curriculum, students can specialize in many different areas to give them a competitive advantage when applying for jobs.

Fill out the free online application. Students must indicate the major they wish to pursue in order for an I-20 to be issued.
Submit a copy of your valid passport
Submit transcripts:

Complete secondary school records reflecting a cumulative grade of 75% (2.5 GPA equivalent) or higher.

Submit an official copy of your high school diploma or graduation certificate (if applicable).
Provide a declaration of finances - A Certificate of Eligibility (I-20 or DS-2019) will not be authorized until financial verification is received. Providing false information may jeopardize visa status and result in the University revoking acceptance. U.S. immigration law requires international students to prove they have funds available for their educational and living expenses.
