The Department of World Languages at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock offers a B.A. in World Languages, with concentrations available in French and Spanish, and minors in French and Spanish.

Overview

We offer a bachelor degree in World Languages at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. In addition to building proficiency in speaking, reading, writing and listening in second language, our coursework cultivates critical thinking and analysis through engagement with a range of cultural products, including art, film, music, and literature. 

Our curricula combine proficiency-based instruction with a classic liberal arts education. We also offer specialized classes in language for specific purposes and professions.

Programme Structure

  • Our department offers faculty-led summer study abroad programs in France, Latin America, and Spain, and students are encouraged to study abroad for semester and year-long programs. 
  • We also assist students who cannot study abroad for extended periods of time to find shorter (one- or two-week) options for language immersion programs.

General requirements

  • Application for admission and pay the $40 application fee. There’s no application fee for military students – request your waiver here.
  • Immunization records or Titer Test showing Immunity (for students born after 1956) can be sent via mail, emailed to admissions@ualr.edu, or faxed to 501-569-8956.
  • Official high school transcript Ask your counselor to send a current high school transcript. After you graduate, we will need a final high school transcript with your graduation posted.
  • Official college entrance exam scores Ask your counselor to send your scores along with your current high school transcript or request your scores through the exam provider.
  • Official college transcripts (If you have taken college classes while in high school) from all post-secondary schools you’ve attended.
