About Health Information Management at University of Kansas Medical Center

To be eligible for admission to the Health Information Management program of the University of Kansas Medical Center, students must complete their first two years of undergraduate prerequisites from KU's Lawrence campus or another qualified accredited institution.

Students on the KU Lawrence campus may declare pre-health information management as their major (offered by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences). All students need to contact the KU Department of Health Information Management for assignment to an adviser as soon as possible in his or her college career.

Graduate Opportunities

Graduates are eligible to sit for the American Health Information Management Association National Registry Examination that allows the successful candidate to be officially recognized as a Registered Health Information Administrator and may use the RHIA credential.
