The Nursing RN-BSN program at University of North Carolina Wilmington is designed to provide a foundation for graduate nursing education. Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 2.5

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 2.5 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

General Requirements

  • Submit an application to UNCW that includes a section for application to the RN to BSN option
  • Meet criteria for both admission to the UNCW and the RN to BSN program
  • A 2.50 cumulative GPA. Each student's cumulative GPA is calculated on all transferable college courses attempted at all accredited institutions of higher education according to the guidelines in use by the UNCW Admissions Office
  • At least 24 credits of transferable college coursework, including: at least 6 credits in college-level English. Three credits in college-level mathematics is recommended.

Each year, the application opens on December 1 and closes on March 1.  You must be a newly admitted or current student to access the scholarship application.  Available scholarships include both merit-and need based awards, however the number of available awards varies from year to year.  

Entering freshmen who are selected to receive a scholarship award may view it on their financial aid award letter that is mailed in April and electronically in Seanet on their account.  Returning student recipients will be able to view their award in Seanet by July 1.
