The Department of Anthropology thrives on collaboration, research, and sensitivity to what it means to be human. As our study of the human experience necessarily ranges from the scientific to the humanistic, we filter those research concerns through various areas of study within the department. Ready to become an anthropologist?

Progression into the Anthropology major is based on performance in the three prerequisite courses: 110 or 117, 120 or 127 and 130 or 137. You must maintain at least a 2.66 GPA for these three courses, with none of the three grades below a C. Upon satisfactory completion of the prerequisites, you may apply for progression into the Anthropology major by completing this application. Upon progression to the major, a departmental advisor will be assigned.
