Overview

Undergraduate students from the United States and overseas combine the study of music recording, music theory and performance, electrical engineering and computer engineering in a unique interdisciplinary program. This Music Engineering Technology program at University of Miami also requires proficiency on a musical instrument or voice.

Course work includes studio and live music recording, mixing, post production, digital audio, acoustics, studio design, transducer theory, signal processing, film/video production, and audio design. In addition, students must play in ensembles throughout their four-year stay. Our graduates enjoy a very high placement rate in the professional and consumer audio industries. Many graduates occupy prestigious positions and have achieved great success in their work. For example, as recording engineers, graduates have recorded gold, platinum, and Grammy award-winning albums, and mixed the sound tracks of Oscar-winning motion pictures.

Complete and submit the Common Application. Upon submitting, you will be asked to pay a $70 nonrefundable application fee.

If you have attended a secondary school outside of the United States, you must submit your official secondary school documents (transcripts, mark sheets, certificates, examination results, etc.)

We require you to submit two letters of recommendation: one from a high school guidance counselor and one from a teacher.

The University of Miami is need-aware for first-year international undergraduate applicants. This means that, for a portion of international applicants, the Admission Committee will consider that student’s ability to pay tuition without the need for financial aid.
