Overview

Private voice lessons, vocal coaching, diction, and language study are vital components of the degree program. Vocal performance majors also study music theory, music history and literature, opera literature, solo repertoire, and vocal pedagogy, and they present solo recitals in their junior and senior years. In addition to their musical studies, students choose from a broad selection of classes in the liberal arts to expand their world view and to prepare them to be contributors to society at large.

Vocal Performance majors at University of Miami have numerous opportunities to expand their knowledge of choral literature and styles in one of our outstanding choral ensembles. Undergraduate students are frequently cast in principal and supporting roles in Frost Opera Theater productions when appropriate for the student’s vocal and artistic development.

Complete and submit the Common Application. Upon submitting, you will be asked to pay a $70 nonrefundable application fee.

If you have attended a secondary school outside of the United States, you must submit your official secondary school documents (transcripts, mark sheets, certificates, examination results, etc.)

We require you to submit two letters of recommendation: one from a high school guidance counselor and one from a teacher.
