Overview

The Mechanical Engineering (BSME) program at University of Miami is distinctive in its emphasis on analysis, design and fabrication of systems – machines, engines, products and technologies – that provide conversion between mechanical, electrical and thermal energies. The BSME program is accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET).

The objectives of the BSME program is to prepare graduates who, within the first four to six years after graduation are, either:

Working as a professional or as an entrepreneur in an area closely related to mechanical engineering, or

Exhibit lifelong learning by pursuing or having completed a graduate or professional degree and/or demonstrated professional development

Complete and submit the Common Application. Upon submitting, you will be asked to pay a $70 nonrefundable application fee.

If you have attended a secondary school outside of the United States, you must submit your official secondary school documents (transcripts, mark sheets, certificates, examination results, etc.)

We require you to submit two letters of recommendation: one from a high school guidance counselor and one from a teacher.

The University of Miami is need-aware for first-year international undergraduate applicants. This means that, for a portion of international applicants, the Admission Committee will consider that student’s ability to pay tuition without the need for financial aid.
