Overview
The primary educational objective of the RN to BSN program at the University of Houston is to increase the career and educational opportunities available to registered nurses in the university’s service region. Graduates of the program will have a broader understanding of the nursing profession and will bring that understanding to the practice of nursing in their places of employment. Graduates will be prepared to assume some leadership and management roles.

General requirements
- Graduated from an accredited associate degree or diploma program.
- Provide evidence of an unencumbered, current Texas Registered Nurse license.
- Applicants must complete an online application through NursingCAS
- Applicants must submit official transcript(s) from EACH college or university attended, sent directly from each institution to NursingCAS. (For timely and accurate processing, students should ensure that all official documents have been submitted to NursingCAS at least one month prior to the deadline date.)
- Applicants must have a minimum cumulative transfer GPA of 2.5, and 2.5 or above GPA in natural, physical and behavioral sciences is required.
- Applicants invited for admission must satisfy the Gessner College of Nursing Policy for Clinical Readiness Requirements prior to enrollment each semester.
