The safety of our students, faculty, staff, and visitors is incredibly important to all of us at the University of Minnesota, and the Twin Cities campus is among the safest in the country. Students can receive real-time safety alerts via text message by signing up for Safe-U, and alarm buttons and emergency phones are located throughout campus. Parking facilities, skyways, and tunnels are monitored 24 hours a day with the aid of security cameras, and campus escorts are available to bike and walk with you to and from campus locations and nearby neighborhoods.
From certifiable classic to state-of-the-art, the U of M is bursting with iconic sports facilities. We have the venerable Williams Arena (aka “The Barn”)—with its unique raised floor—which has seen a century’s worth of hardcourt history. There’s the world-class University Aquatic Center, which has hosted numerous championship events. And our puck fans light up when they walk into Mariucci and Ridder Arenas, the envy of hockey fans everywhere.
Our students come together to socialize and learn from each other in more than 800 student groups, from the Alpine Ski Team and the Black Student Union, to the Bass Fishing Team and the Capoeira Club. We also have an active Fraternity and Sorority community.

The school is very small so you get to know all your professors and classmates on a personal level. Youre never just a number there. The Animal Science program is excellent because of the hands on learning and wonderful professors! Overall the education the school is really focused on agriculture and natural resources, if your major doesnt match that I would suggest...
I am really happy to be attending the University of Minnesota. It is such a great school, provides stellar education to its students, and the quality of the school is hard to beat! Plus, Minneapolis is so huge and diverse, there's so much to get involved in as a student and a tourist.
