Overview
Accounting involves identifying, measuring and communicating economic information to enable people to make informed judgments and decisions. This type of information is essential to businesses, not-for-profit organizations and others for internal and external purposes.
Program Objectives for Students
The Accounting program at Southern Illinois University provides undergraduate accounting program graduates with the basic understanding of accounting concepts (financial, taxation, auditing, managerial and accounting information systems) such that they can prepare, analyze and communicate accounting information. Students graduating with an undergraduate degree should be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing in a business setting.
