Overview
They are committed to teaching gender literacy as knowledge integral to civic literacy. From an interdisciplinary perspective, students in the Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies program at California State University Long Beach explore a sophisticated body of knowledge and academic discipline to develop the skills for critical thinking and civic engagement.
Learning Outcomes
- Describe how the effects of gender, sexuality, race, class and nation intersect in the construction of identity and institutional formations.
- Demonstrate proficiency in writing and oral communication skills.
- Understand and evaluate major theories and texts central to Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.
- Understand the ways in which economic, cultural, religious, environmental, and political forces shape a range of transnational social movements in the U.S. and abroad.

All first-year student applicants must submit the following items:
- File a CSULB application through Cal State Apply by the deadline
- Have earned a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA or "B'" grade according to the CSULB GPA scale.
- Fulfil CSULB's English Language Requirement
- Have completed at least 1 year of high school mathematics. Applicants to STEM majors must have at least 3 years of high school mathematics.
- Provide scores for at least 5 subjects completed. In addition, please provide scores for at least 2 "A/AS" subjects completed.
