Overview

The Kinesiology and Sports Studies - Strength and Conditioning program from Texas A&M University–Commerce is designed to prepare students for advanced certification in sports science, to critically evaluate new technologies and program proposals and be an advocate for their clients in a constantly changing field of sports performance. Graduates will take with them substantial experience, expertise and other resources to effectively address the challenges of serving as strength and conditioning specialists.

What Will You Learn?

A bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and sports studies with a strength and conditioning concentration will offer the opportunity to:

Learn basic and advanced knowledge of human body function and movement
Engage in strength and conditioning programming and methodology
Apply methods of fitness testing, analysis and integration
Learn concepts of nutrition, hydration and sport fueling
Acquire concepts of leadership and administration

Obtain field experience through internship

Internship?

The strength and conditioning focused internship is designed to provide students with in-field experience alongside a qualified strength and conditioning professional. Students will learn from a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA CSCS).The academic internship course is ONLY allowed within the last semester of the student's academic experience. It is the student's responsibility to plan accordingly for internship time and effort commitment. Students should meet with the internship coordinator to discuss expectations, documentation, evaluations, and necessary graded items.
