Overview

Students who have earned an AAS degree from a regionally accredited institution can enroll at Montana State University Billings to complete the Applied Science program and take upper division credits in areas of study which will complement their AAS credits already earned.

The program is designed for students who want to build upon the technical strengths of their AAS degree. There are a variety of options for completing the BAS degree.

The degree allows the transfer of an accredited (AAS) degree into a baccalaureate degree, counting the AAS credits much as credits in a major are counted.

Students are encouraged to work with an Academic Advisor to design a thematic concentration. This is an opportunityfor a student to develop a self-designed major that meets their academic interests and goals. The concentration must include at least 30 credits of course work, and it must have at least 15 credits from one discipline.

Applicants must meet one academic criterion, either a minimum GPA of 2.5 or ranking in the upper half of their high school graduating class.
Applicants who do not meet minimum academic criteria are encouraged to apply and will be reviewed individually.
Applicants must have graduated from a state‑accredited high school, completed the GED or HiSET, or be at least 16 years old and beyond compulsory attendance age in Montana.
Applicants from homeschooling or unaccredited schools may qualify through satisfactory ACT, SAT, or approved test performance.
Applicants must meet secondary education requirements through high school graduation or an approved equivalency exam.
College preparatory coursework must include English, mathematics through Algebra II, social studies, laboratory science, and approved electives.
