Individualized Major from Eastern Connecticut State University allows you to combine coursework from two or more disciplines to meet the broad range of skills needed in today’s ever-changing world. You will develop your plan of study with the assistance of two faculty advisors to focus on precisely what you want to study. An individualized major must be declared before 60 credits are completed.

General requirements

An Individualized Major cannot be approved during a student’s final semester.
Students must create a Plan of Study with at least 36 credits from two or more disciplines.
Two faculty advisors must be selected, one from each primary discipline in the plan, to oversee progress.
The proposed Plan of Study is submitted for approval to:Faculty advisors
Department chairs of any department where the student plans to take 15+ credits toward the major
Dean of the appropriate school, who forwards the approved plan to the Registrar’s Office
If revisions are needed, the student must submit an Amendment/Substitution Form with signatures from advisors and dean.
The dean notifies the student of approval or required changes before the end of the semester following submission.
