Overview

Students at the Bachelor of Science Data Science degree at Middle Tennessee State University will start from a business understanding of the question at hand, using it to inform and understand the data available, then use skills in the preparation and display of data and in the modeling of data to evaluate the issue at hand. Finally, they will deploy the model they created to ensure that it is widely usable.

Creating Data-Driven Problem Solvers - Students earning a bachelor's data science degree will take courses in programming, statistics, analytics, database, and machine learning and select a concentration in either Inferential Thinking, Business Intelligence, or Advanced Machine Learning. Students will also be able to put those skills to use through 'real-world' projects. A capstone course and the opportunity for internships allow students to follow the process of data science in a real-world setting and will ensure that they have a portfolio of work to show prospective employers.
