Overview

Through classroom instruction, laboratory simulations and hands-on learning in Bachelor of Air Traffic Control Managementat Lewis University., students will be fully prepared for entry into the FAA Academy*, where you will complete your air traffic control training.

As an air traffic controller, your role can not be overdramatized. You are responsible for directing aircraft entering and leaving the airport, instructing pilots on when and where they can land and depart - minimizing flight delays, and most importantly, keeping passengers safe.

*All students will need to pass the AT-SAT Aptitude Test before their final training at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City.

FAA Requirements:

The FAA has additional requirements for Air Traffic Controller positions, including physical and mental standards, along with the prerequisite that an individual must be hired before age 31. Review the FAA Air Traffic Controller Hiring Requirements.

Applicants to this program must have achieved a minimum high school GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) and an ACT composite score of 21 or a minimum score of 1100 on the SAT. They must also have completed three years of high school mathematics and science. In addition to appropriate ACT/SAT scores, transfer students must have earned an overall 3.0 GPA in transferable courses. Lewis University students who request admission into the program must have completed a minimum of 24 credit hours at Lewis University and must have earned no less than a 3.0 GPA overall.
