Germany is the biggest European trading partner of the United States, and the German language is one of the most commonly used business languages in the world.Earning a bachelor’s degree in a foreign language is so much more than just learning to speak, read and write in another language. With Appalachian State University’s Languages, Literatures and Cultures - German program you will gain insights into cultures, literature and linguistics while strengthening your analytic and interpretive skills.

By majoring in German, you will gain a number of transferable skills that make you attractive to employers. These include excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills, the ability to understand and analyze different cultures and perspectives, flexibility in thinking and adaptability to new environments, collaborative work skills and the ability to research and synthesize information from a variety of sources.
