Overview
Maryville University’s state-of-the-art facilities offer some of the best speech and language pathology resources in the region, and you’ll be eligible to apply for a state Speech Language Pathology -A license, which allows you to work in a limited capacity under the supervision of a fully certified and licensed speech-language pathologist.
When you complete Maryville’s freshman direct entry program you will graduate with a bachelor’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders, and then move right into your Speech Language Pathologist master’s training. You can meet with expert faculty to help prepare you for your entry into the master’s program and a rewarding career as a speech language pathologist.

- Speech language pathology students provide speech, language, voice, swallowing, hearing screenings and treatment services in state-of-the-art clinic rooms.
- You will work closely with students in occupational therapy, physical therapy and music therapy as well as nursing and rehabilitation counseling. This inter-professional education with its shared courses and opportunities to work side-by-side helps prepare students for real-world collaboration in healthcare.

General requirements
- A high school diploma with a minimum of 22 units of credit including four units of English, three units of mathematics, three units of science, three units of social sciences (social studies), and three additional units in any of the above areas or in a foreign language.
- A high school grade point average of at least 3.25 (on a 4.0 scale).
- Applicants who do not meet the criteria listed above will be considered on a case-by-case basis and may be asked to submit a personal statement before an admission decision is made.
