With Vocal Performance program at New England Conservatory of Music you will receive thorough technical training from renowned voice faculty in private studio lessons, acquire detailed knowledge of the repertoire and styles from the early Baroque to the present, enhance your knowledge of singing languages and diction, and build your resume by performing as a solo artist and in large and small ensembles at NEC and throughout Boston’s rich vocal community.

We bring the love, passion, and enthusiasm from the combined 150+ years of international performing and teaching experience to every lesson, every studio performance class, and every interaction with the aspiring young artists we have the privilege to work with. Empowering the students with the skills and knowledge to discover, cultivate, and master their unique voices to become complete, self-reliant 21st-century performing artists is the mission.

The NEC vocal arts program provides separate undergraduate and graduate training programs and performances in opera production and song performance, making opportunities to perform more accessible to all students. Repertoire and performances are chosen through faculty collaboration and are based on the needs of the students. NEC singers regularly hold apprentice artist contracts with Santa Fe Opera, Merola, Wolf Trap Opera, Glimmerglass, and Chautauqua, as well as resident young artist contracts with the Metropolitan Opera, Covent Garden, LA Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Zurich Opera, and numerous regional companies. The alumni have gone on to perform in the major opera houses and concert halls of the world, hold faculty and administrative positions in the arts globally, and have won prestigious awards such as the Laffont Metropolitan Opera Competition and Operalia.
