Overview
The Interior Design programme from Judson University meets the educational requirement for eligibility to sit for the National Council for Interior Design Qualification Examination (NCIDQ Exam).
Judson Interior Design graduates will embrace a Christian worldview derived from critical and disciplined interaction with God's Word and God's world. This ultimate goal will be achieved as students attain the following intermediate goals:
- Cultivate ethical conduct and decision-making through an understanding of the legal and ethical implications of decisions in alignment with the Judson University Mission.
- Practice wellness from a Christian stewardship perspective and make responsible lifestyle choices that lead to optimal health and vitality.
- Instill a Christ-centered approach and genuine concern for improving the health and wellness others.
- Apply critical thinking skills to creatively address the visual, technical and aesthetic aspects of the interior environment.
- Develop the ability to effectively communicate orally, in writing, and visually.
- Cultivate the ability to work effectively with others through collaboration.
- Encourage creative, innovative and design thinking throughout the design process.
- Instill the ability to collect, review, evaluate and synthesize information and research data to develop design solutions.
- Instruct methods of design using knowledge of how interiors affect the health, safety, and welfare of all individuals, and how elements comply with codes and regulations.
- Develop cultural awareness and understanding to produce informed design solutions and demonstrate cultural competency as it relates to natural, social and economic issues to justify design solutions.
Career
Judson’s Interior Design programme prepares students for entry-level interior design practice, for advanced study, and to apply for membership in professional interior design organizations. Judson will ensure that students receive an education that will serve them not only during their time at school, but also prepare them for future professional growth and to integrate Christian principles to prepare them for life.
