Overview
The goal of this Engineering (Clean Energy Systems) programme from Arizona State University is to educate engineers in promoting and establishing new and renewable energy sources for reducing carbon footprints.
Emphasis on clean energy systems is truly a global phenomenon, and there is a need for collaborative work on a global scale ranging from developing ideas for new designs to implementing those designs into viable energy production systems. This programme prepares students to collaborate across disciplines to design and build solutions to practical problems.
BSE students apply fundamental engineering knowledge and design thinking to real projects every semester.

- Students in the clean energy systems concentration build a broad engineering foundation to which they add the skills and knowledge they need in order to contribute clean energy systems expertise in transdisciplinary engineering teams; students learn energy conversion processes and gain knowledge and skills in batteries, photovoltaics, fuel cells, wind energy and solar heating. This expertise includes hybrid energy systems and applications.
- The programme enables students to develop sophisticated technical skills in tandem with the professional skills of communication, teamwork, collaboration, self-motivation and adaptability, and the programme's emphasis on open-ended design and project-based learning supports the development of entrepreneurial skills and attitudes.

Graduates have the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in the area of clean energy systems and related applications, including:- emerging technology areas that utilize clean energy resources such as batteries, fuel cells, wind and solar energy
- the fields of electric and hybrid vehicles, autonomous vehicle systems, and power generation from alternate energy sources
- other related industries as the transition from traditional to other energy sources takes place in all sectors of engineering

First-year students must:
- Have a 3.00 grade point average (GPA) (a "B" or better where "A"=4.00) from a secondary school. Some ASU programs may have higher admission or English proficiency requirements and may consider a minimum ACT or SAT score.
- Must have three years of high school coursework. (If you are currently in high school, ASU needs to see 9–11 grade coursework. If you have completed high school, ASU needs to see 10–12 grade coursework.)
- Must have and present a completed high school diploma or certificate.
