This Mathematics degree at National University emphasizes a reflective and conceptual understanding of mathematics and its applied techniques. Students are advised that all mathematics courses encourage critical thinking by their very nature.

The BS in Mathematics program offers two concentrations to choose from: Data Analytics and Subject Matter Competency.

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

Employ reasoning skills and strategies to solve mathematics problems
Demonstrate the use of language and symbols to communicate ideas, connections, and interplay in mathematics
Distinguish mathematical technology, such as computers, calculators, graphing tools, video, and interactive programs relevant to the study of mathematics
Employ algebra and number theory as a base for the language of mathematics in research and communication
Demonstrate a fundamental knowledge of geometry
Model real-world problems with algebraic and transcendental functions
Use advanced statistics and probability concepts and methods

All entering undergraduate students without prior college level English and/or Math courses must take the ACCUPLACER mathematics and English evaluation as part of the admissions process.
High school graduates transferring from regionally accredited colleges and universities are admitted as degree students if their cumulative GPA is 2.0 or higher. Applicants with a GPA below 2.0 may be admitted on probationary admission if the Committee on the Application of Standards (Committee) judges that there is sufficient evidence of potential to complete college studies. Applicants below a 2.0 may submit a petition letter to their advisor for review by the Committee.
Individual degree programs may have additional admission requirements.
