Overview
Some BMDS students select minors that complement one another and may better prepare them for graduate studies (i.e., pursuing medical school, law school, or an MBA). Others may select minors across various Schools to better align with their future careers (e.g., economics, secondary education, entrepreneurship, or public policy).
Key Features
The Multidisciplinary Studies degree at the University of Mississippi was created in 2011 to meet the needs of undergraduates who wish to tailor their own degree program to meet their specific educational and career needs; non-traditional students whose work and family responsibilities constrain their ability to complete the requirements of other undergraduate degree programs offered by the University; and students who have accumulated many college credits, but discontinued their studies without completing a degree.
Programme Structure
Courses include:
- Students in the Bachelor of Multidisciplinary Studies degree program must complete the requirements of their three selected minors as outlined in the UM catalog. The minor requirements are set forth by the schools/departments that own them and not by the Office of General Studies.
- Courses are offered by the schools/departments that own those courses. Once a course is closed, the staff in the Office of General Studies has no authority to add a student to any class.
