Overview
This program is the only professionally accredited forestry program at an HBCU. Our Forestry students may also minor in Wildlife Biology or Fisheries. The students in this major benefit from a close partnership with the US Forest Service. The Forestry program is offered by Alabama A&M University.
About this program
Students who join our Forestry, Ecology, and Wildlife Program (FEWP) will discover a family of professors, staff, and students who are willing to spend time in and outside of the classroom helping them prepare for an exciting career contributing to the conservation and management of forests and natural resources. FEWP strives for excellence in forestry education, research, and service to the public. Our forestry program is nationally accredited and a Center of Excellence with the USDA Forest Service.
Career fields
More than 90% of our graduates have found placement with jobs in their field of study, including careers with the USDA Forest Service and other opportunities. A number of career paths are available to graduates from our FEWP.

General requirements
- Official letter of recommendation from principal, counselor or college advisor.
- AAMU requires a minimum GPA of 2.0 and currently waives test requirements (acceptance only). Test scores are required for scholarship eligibility.
- Official results of the Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL) paper based score = 500 or above; Computer based = 178 or above; and Internet based = 61 or above, or official results of the International English Testing System (IELTS) of a 5.5 or above unless English is spoken as a native language. If applicant has successfully completed one year's college coursework in an English-speaking country, the TOEFL or IELTS requirement may be waived.
