Overview

The Psychology programme from Lycoming College is empirically-based with exposure to research opportunities beginning in the introductory courses. Students are trained in both theoretical and applied psychology in addition to the focus on the scientific approach.

Lycoming is one of only 5 percent of colleges nationwide that offer a lab section with the Introductory Psychology class.

Students are also able to expand their horizons through community service experiences with the Psychology Club, study abroad courses, and various placements in internships and practicums in the Williamsport community.

Participate in an internship with employers such as Crossroads Counseling, Lycoming Therapeutic Services, State and Federal Prisons, Ashler Manor, or Clear Vision.

Careers and opportunities

A psychology major, combined with the liberal arts and sciences education, prepares you for a variety of careers, such as school counseling, school psychology, education, human resources, clinical practices and more.

Graduates have been admitted to for master’s and doctoral programs in clinical psychology, developmental psychology, and social psychology.

Submit Your English Proficiency Exam Scores: Lycoming requires submission of one of the following assessments: TOEFL IBT (minimum score 70); TOEFL PBT (minimum score 525); IELTS (minimum overall band score 6.0); Pearson English Test -PTE Academic (minimum score 50) or Duolingo English Test - DET (minimum score 100), unless you live in an English-speaking country.

Submit Financial Support Documents: International students planning to attend with an F-1 or J-1 visa will be required to submit proof of financial support. Students must complete and return the Financial Disclosure Form and an official bank statement (translated into English, if necessary) verifying adequate available funds prior to being considered for admission.
