The Chemistry programme from Lycoming College illuminates the complexities behind many processes and occurrences of everyday life. Student Opportunities

Work on research projects alongside faculty during the academic year or over the summer.

Examine the quality of water and coffee in the Dominican Republic during May Term.

Study green coffee stability through a collaboration with Alabaster Coffee Roaster and Tea Company.

Gain valuable teaching experience as a laboratory assistant, a course tutor, or a study group facilitator.

Pursue a competitive chemistry internship at a company such as Avery Dennison, Croda Inc., U.S. Geological Survey, or the Williamsport Municipal Water Authority.

Present research at local and regional conferences.

Collaborate with local schools and groups to put on demonstrations and laboratory experiences.

Complete an internship at a local company through the WISE program.

Work toward induction into Gamma Sigma Epsilon National Chemistry Honor Society.

Careers and opportunities

There has never been a better time to major in chemistry. Typically, within six months of graduation 100% of Lycoming's chemistry majors have jobs at a variety of firms, or are teaching or continuing their education in graduate schools across the country.

Graduates work as research chemists, product development engineers, sales executives, and teachers. Many pursue advanced degrees in fields such as pharmacology, toxicology, or organic chemistry.

Submit Your English Proficiency Exam Scores: Lycoming requires submission of one of the following assessments: TOEFL IBT (minimum score 70); TOEFL PBT (minimum score 525); IELTS (minimum overall band score 6.0); Pearson English Test -PTE Academic (minimum score 50) or Duolingo English Test - DET (minimum score 100), unless you live in an English-speaking country.

Submit Financial Support Documents: International students planning to attend with an F-1 or J-1 visa will be required to submit proof of financial support. Students must complete and return the Financial Disclosure Form and an official bank statement (translated into English, if necessary) verifying adequate available funds prior to being considered for admission.
