Our program provides students with a basic understanding of American politics and policies as well as courses designed to enhance critical thinking, analytic skills, improve research practices, and communication skills, both oral and written.As a political science student, you will complete a comprehensive curriculum that delivers high-demand knowledge, skills, and abilities in several areas such as:

American Elections
Terrorism
Democracy and Dictatorship
Public Policy
International Relations
U.S. Foreign and Security Policy

Students in the Political Science Program can specialize in their field of interest through concentration areas in General Education or Secondary Education Emphasis.

The Political Science program prepares Colorado State University Pueblo students for a wide range of careers, including academia, law, state, and federal government, private enterprise, the military, and entry into graduate programs.

Goals

To provide students with a general knowledge of history and historical methodology;
To prepare students, through training in communication skills and in research methods, to gain knowledge of a given area of history;
To prepare students to continue personal study and learning about specific subject areas in the discipline on an independent basis;
To prepare students to engage in critical thinking; and
To introduce students to the theoretical frameworks that serve as the foundation of historical scholarship.
