Overview
The Sustainability Studies programme at Hood College we make about the quality of life we want for ourselves, our community and future generations. As a sustainability studies major, you will be prepared for personal and professional achievement in STEM-related fields and for productive participation in society.
The Sustainability Studies major provides foundational knowledge and skills that are further developed in upper level electives. These foundations are based in the environmental sciences and extend deeply into the intersection of human activities and quality of life issues pertaining to the need for clean water, healthy food and sustainable energy. Courses emphasize the development of hands-on skills, as well as the systematic introduction of concepts and applications of recently acquired principles.
What You’ll Learn
- All three focus areas will feature systems thinking, high-impact practices, content knowledge, field and laboratory mentorship, College-wide sustainability initiatives, and civic engagement and service learning.
- This program will offer a holistic education that encompasses the curriculum, co-curricular experiences and a rich array of experiential learning opportunities that will facilitate student exploration and foster intellectual growth.

- International Application
- Official Transcripts - We require official transcripts from each secondary (high school) and post-secondary (college or university) school that you have attended. International transcripts must be translated and evaluated (course-by-course) by a professional organization. Our preferred evaluator is World Education Services, but we will accept transcripts from any NACES evaluator.
- Certification of Finances - If you will be applying for an F-1 student visa, you are required to submit proof of financial support for at least one year of tuition and living expenses, which is estimated to be approximately $45,000 USD, at the time of application.
- Copy of passport - Please submit a photocopy of your passport photo page.
