Overview
When you successfully complete the Collaborative Teacher Special Education program at University of West Alabama, you will be certified by the Alabama State Department of Education to teach in an elementary, middle or high school in Alabama, or in any state with which Alabama has a reciprocity agreement.
Key Features
- You will hold a certificate that allows you to be employed to teach grades K-6 and/or 6-12.
- University Charter School: A rural, diverse K-12 school that prepares education majors to implement individual learning pathways that will provide a rigorous and integrated Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STREAM) curriculum with a focus on project-based and place-based learning.
- Campus School: A training facility for students enrolled in the Julia S. Tutwiler College of Education that provides opportunities to work with children ages 6-weeks through five-years old.

- Official high school transcripts (students must submit an official high school transcript showing course work through the time of application and submit a final transcript after graduation showing graduation date and diploma type).

- Immunization Record and Medical History completed through Student Medical Report and Immunization Form.
